Employment - Freelance Designer

Mole Interactive has an immediate need for a freelance interactive designer.  The candidate should have at least two to three completed web sites in their portfolio that demonstrate knowledge of designing for the web.  Ideally, the candidate should be able to take the completed Photoshop file to the web using web standards and cascading style sheets.  Mole Interactive does not provide any required software (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.) unless it is purchased for a specific client and billed accordingly.

The required skills for this position include:

  1. Strong HTML skills with a good understanding of cascading style sheets.
  2. Knowledge of how to download a site, work on a page and upload it back to the server.
  3. Ability to work independently once the task is assigned and explained.

The following skills would be helpful, but not required for the internship opportunity:

  1. Adobe Flash.
  2. PHP, ASP, .NET programming experience.
  3. Relational database skills (Access, SQL Server, etc).

Examples of tasks include:

  1. Assist with maintenance of web sites
  2. Provide concepts for clients ranging from small graphic changes to complete site design.

Hours per week:

There are no set hours for this position, projects come up at various times.

Position Pay:

Pay is generally based on the number of hours needed to complete the project and the type of client involved in the project.  We have several non-profit and pro bono clients and the pay for the freelance graphic designer adjusts based on the client’s status.  All projects will be discussed and a rate/time agreement will be reached before any work begins.
